My dear spiritual leaders in Christendom

The English say, A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE, while the Igbo of Biafra say EMEE NGWA NGWA EMEGHARA ODACHI, literally meaning, Taking Immediate Preventive Actions Precludes Tragedies.

Many a tragedy occur because leaders live in an Utopian world of relaxed enjoyment of won grounds while their enemies spend sleepless nights plotting their downfall.

Christians and their leaders have rested on their oars for half a century in Nigeria and other African countries. The result is a mass exodus of members to spiritual churches and prosperity televangelists swindling.

We must wake up from our slumber and re-enact what the early CSSp missionaries like Shanahan & Bindel did to evangelize us. Current clerics do not conquer new grounds. we are wallowing in the euphoria that we have the numerical advantage. FALSE, 85 per cent of our congregation are consulting spirit mediums who camouflage as pastors, overseers and crusaders snatching away our brothers and sisters into the demonic alternatives they provide.

HEAL THE WORLD OF RELIGIOUS FANATICISM AND RACISM WITH ONE WORLD RELIGION FOR PEACE IN OUR GLOBAL VILLAGE
8 October 2011 at 10:48
This medical scientist, pragmatic researcher and existential therapist, is proposing that we scrutinise all the religious and ethnocentric prejudices that had enslaved many children right from birth, who were born into their parents religio-cultural practices and were never given the freedom to search for objective methods of relating to their maker and other humans. Can you join us to make this feasible? Rev. Prof. J. J. KENEZ (

INTERNATIONAL MANIFESTO OF INTEGRATIONAL SPIRITAN MOVEMENT
Daily we interact with our parents, siblings, immediate relatives and neighbours in our small circles of physical habitations. When we travel outside our ethnic and national boundaries, we run into different personalities we love to hate or vice versa, who consciously or unconsciously influence our lives positively or negatively. Have you ever sat down and taken stock of what you have become over the last ten years?
Many people you see, meet with and/or socialise with are mere conformists. They are those personalities that are satisfied with ‘going through the motions’; doing what everyone else is doing to make a living and waiting for the final ‘call to glory’ as they brand death! Many of us are born and live an inconsequential life; bland, uneventful and without anything particular to be remembered for after our exit from this mundane world, a temporal habitation for the soul.
Jude Danmbaezue's photo.

There are some others, whose lives and contributions to the society made a difference! They changed the ‘status quo’ by either extending the frontiers of knowledge or developing their immediate communities. They improved the understanding of human nature and taught others the values of humanitarianism. These heroes and heroines touched the lives of many intellectually and socially which elevated brotherhood of mankind both inter-racially and internationally.
These agents of change were the true sons and daughters of the Almighty Creator of the universe. They added colour to daily routines and the doldrums of routine existence on planet earth! A few had tall dreams and went ahead to transform them into reality despite all odds. This group devised methods of changing the deplorable situations and the deprived circumstances of the lifestyle they met on becoming adults. Some adolescents dream of the courage to better their social status, but often take off on the wrong foot of seeking for titles, money, fame and crowning it all with indulging in romantic relationships.
Others dared to pursue the unknown, to break new grounds and blaze trails for followers to tread on. Their zeal, inquisitiveness, passion, persistence, desire, motivations and prayers were fully rewarded if they paid the prize for success; optimism, dedication and the refusal to quit. Their philosophy of life was ‘When the task gets tough, the tough get it going!’, ‘Never say, never again!’ or ‘All that it takes to make the ‘impossible’ possible is the will power to remove the ‘im’ in front of that ‘impossible’! They eventually became geniuses, inventors, explorers, leaders or discoverers! They evolved into the innovators and pioneers who helped to enlarge the frontiers of human civilisations and removed the age-old boundaries of the unknown. They were the catalysts of the world!
Historians inform us that Christopher Columbus actually set out to discover another route to
India when he stumbled at the new America and thus opened up humanity to a large continent partitioned into northern and southern halves but naturally connected by a strip of islands. Today, the Panama Canal has made it possible to access the Eastern Regions of the world while travelling continuously to the west! Inventors, Discoverers and occasionally, Religious Leaders emerge from obscure communities of despised nations to beam supernatural light and the Divine Wisdom of the Creator! Joining this select group of animators, innovators or league of achievers is usually not by accident or by mere wishful thinking.
Beyond the routine duties of satisfying the five senses of the body lies the desire to excel in unexplored areas of human existence and the freedom to choose a divergent track that levies hard work is a divine factor that must be recognised, respected and appropriated in unveiling the unknown that the Divine Architect had hidden there for ages waiting for a brave soul to convert it from obscure dormancy to utilitarian vibrancy. This author, a global agent of spiritual evolution, Dr J. J. Kenez wants to know where you belong in this universal continuum of innovators. Or, are you waiting for ‘manna from heaven’?
Those who place priority on breaking new grounds and earnestly search for better alternatives will eventually discover something unique. Those who ask penetrating questions may one day obtain answers from above rather than the routine human palliatives that rarely satisfy the saintly soul. Those who ardently knock on the doors of heavenly wisdom, sooner than later gain divine inspirations from the Holy Spirit of the Original Architect and Ultimate Engineer of the earth we inhabit! He alone has all the answers to all physical, social, mental, spiritual and the personal and socio-political problems of our mundane world, if only we humble ourselves and honestly ask for his wisdom and guidance. But, do we?
The Creator has hidden so much from our intellectual faculties that to date we are still unravelling those He is allowing humanity to glimpse at through divine dreams, intuitions, inspirations and revelations to devout souls! Do you want to have supernatural knowledge mediated by spiritual faculties of seeing, feeling, sensing and caring for others? Look inwards, for the
kingdom of God is inside you, not outside as many prosperity preachers erroneously tell you. No one ever got eternal bliss by keeping the commandments of men. It is given to altruistic seekers of that Divine Guidance in the affairs of mankind, which many yearn for but do not know where, when and how to find it. Search for it in this book!
The creator gave humans some of his powers and knowledge for recreating the material universe for the mutual benefits of all his created beings. The obverse is the case! Today, many use his gifts to perpetrate evil. Either by design or demonic manipulation, ingrates abound everywhere and dominate the scene. The first datum that every living thing recognises is that someone put it here and caters for its welfare. Dogs respect and fight in defence of their owners. Every pet realises that it is loved and taken care of by someone who has value for its existence. It is only human beings, who pride themselves of being rational beings that do not recognise, respect or realise that all of us have a single owner, a caretaker and benevolent father/mother. Meditate over this assertion for a minute and provide me an answer. It is absurd! Isn’t it? It is unintelligent. It is unlike what a rational being can do. Yet, that is only a tip of the iceberg of irreverent religiosity in our global village.
Some learned fools insist that everything came by chance and hold on to the theory of evolution! Despite knowing that the common wristwatch could never have arrived by blind chance and that computers and the Internet had inventors, this brand of demented humans refuse to see and acknowledge the great artistry and creative ingenuity in what they indulge in on a daily basis to survive till the next morning! Some believe there is an Almighty Creator who provides for each creature on a daily basis, some assert that he has turned his back on us due to our congenital wickedness and cruel ways, while others simply deny his existence!
This is my summation of the problem; “Religion was/is a superstitious search by humanity for its origin, existence, meaning and relevance before the scientific era. The search was led by acclaimed sages among the elders of a community who defined its theories and practices. It is later ratified and recommended for legislation and implementation by state apparatus by convincing stratagem or coercion by politico-religious leaders. Thereafter, it is fine tuned and administered by ordained priests and priestesses who hand it down along ancestral lineages from one generation of lukewarm adherents, fanatics and mystics to another. Gradually, strong personalities emerge claiming divine appointment and so pull strong followers who idolise them as role models with supernatural powers. This obsession confirms them as beacons of adulation and finally leads to clannish hero-worship or full scale idolatry.
Therefore, my studied summation stands until it is disproved, I stoically assert that Religion, which is superstition sanctioned by the state, is actually an addiction to man-made doctrines and dogmas invented, patented and copyrighted by a few demagogues.
It enslaves the mind more than psychoactive drugs,
Benumbs human creativity and resourcefulness thereby
Restricting the development of the human potential and capital.
It is the main cause of poverty of the mind and underdevelopment of third world countries as its side-effects are indolence, redundancy, laziness and dependence on finished products and services. In the final analysis, it is the predisposing factor to lack of initiative, debilitating ignorance, fetish belief-systems, abject poverty and perennial ill-health.
14. Perhaps its only advantage is that it makes the polity docile and amenable to the whims and caprices of their oppressive leaders. Often, it hoodwinks its adherents into believing that ‘The God’ or ‘the gods’ they worship speak to them through the voices of their egocentric clerics who therefore can conveniently exploit them to satisfy their demonic desires of sensual pleasure and inordinate ambitions of amassing wealth. Their wanton indulgence in gluttony, wine and women is seen in every action and definitely this is the foolproof evidence of their demonic genealogy.
15. To rescue humanity from the demonic stranglehold of idolatry that now predominates worldwide, you are invited to reason along with us and see that we provide an everlasting cure for sensual lust for food, wine, sex, wealth and power that are the trademarks of a society heading for damnation! Are you going to sit on the fence and wait for another failed experiment in messiahship that was riddled with myopic and ethnocentric bias? Who knows the Creator well enough to declare that he has ‘a chosen people’? Or, that he had only one son? If mere mortals can have seven sons or more from one woman, who limited him to one? Who is the father of all the other men who had been sent earlier on?
16.Where is the evidence that Moses actually led the so-called people out of any oppressive regime? The history books and modern encyclopaedia did not record the enslavement of the Jewish race except as ‘they were believed as revealed truths’. Then Moses, who was brought up in an Egyptian royal court went on to introduce the first and most heinous dichotomy in racism; JEWS and GENTILES! The negative impact of that first categorisation of humanity gave birth to all the nepotic, apartheid and racist policies in the entire world. Could a universal saviour utter; "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." Matt 15:26-27, NKJV.
17. There is a plethora of ancient and modern major world religions. In each, there are factions, sects and denominations. It is syncretism galore! The name of the game is “join our own, ours is the one prospering for now!” It is a religious market!! It is a mad world!!! Many nationals all over the globe are smarting under the colonial yoke of Roman Catholicism or Islamism. The intriguing aspect of this brand of neo-colonialism is that it brews dogmas and doctrines that propel fanatical members to kill or be killed in the name of ‘God’. Religious fanaticism or mysticism is a religio-psychiatric personality disorder that has never been classified by any DSM and so has never been diagnosed and managed as other psychopathological conditions that present in health services all over the world!
18. The Almighty Creator or Ultimate Controller of the Universe has no name! One can only give names to what one completely owns and has power over their existence; life or death! In my community, we only use his divine attributes to address him in speech and supplication. This is how it ought to be. Those using the term “God” have never spelt it backwards! Do so now! Do you now realise that the terminology is not only demonic but derogatory and insane. Stop using it!
19. Human knowledge wears blinkers. At other times, it wears coloured sun glasses and so we see only the colorinations presented as truth. Truth does not wear any make-up. Our knowledge of things is definitely incomplete! It is our ignorance and outright incompetence about the nature of divine beings and the true nature of independence among finite beings that generate religious bigotry and world wars!
20. The fallacy of HUMAN CONCEPTS OF THE ULTIMATE CREATOR AND WHAT HE DEMANDS OF ALL OF US is similar to the verdicts of the four blind men who went on an excursion to know what the elephant looked like. But in our case in religious buffoonery, it is not the personal verdicts of the first set of the blind men that we hold on to; that unfortunately is the tragedy of current day Religionists and the breeding ground for puerile bigotry, fanaticism, doctrines, dogmas, crusades and jihads. It is futile to not only believe the verdicts of the earliest FOUR BLIND MEN who were actually wrong but psychotically paranoid to swallow the bastardised versions handed down by degenerate grandsons of those cowardly and shameless blind men who never made the trip at all!
21. So many blind religious leaders do not even set out to make the trip! Rather, they are satisfied by propagating what other blind men heard from the original four blind men that really touched the elephant. So it is that a thousand interpretations of what the wise explorers concluded is now bandied about what the original elephant looked and still looks like. The Elephant in his majesty refuses to say a word! Why, you may ask! It is unnecessary; for the glory, majesty and truths about the true worship of Our Almighty Creator abound in Nature and the Sane Human Beings observe them on a daily and hourly basis 365 days every year! Only the blind do not want to see the Natural and Eternal Laws he engraved into each macrocosm and microcosm He has made and given to all His Creations to share. We are equal heirs to His Infinite Love!
22. Every individual nature is part of the cosmos. To live virtuously means to live in accord with one's nature, to live according to the natural and eternal laws the designer of the universe intended by employing truth and right reason in all we do. Because passion and emotion are considered irrational movements of the soul, the wise individual seeks to eradicate the passions and consciously embrace the rational life.
23. “True law is right reason in agreement with Nature; it is of universal application, unchanging and everlasting; it summons to duty by its commands and averts from wrongdoing by its prohibitions. . . . There will not be different laws at different countries or communities, or different laws now and in the future, BUT ONE ETERNAL AND UNCHANGEABLE LAW WILL BE VALID FOR ALL NATIONS AND FOR ALL TIMES.”
24.The laws governing all living things; birth, growth, respiration, movement, nutrition, excretion, reproduction and finally death hold sway in every place on planet earth under normal temperature and pressure. Humans have the same anatomy and physiology despite our differing languages, child-rearing practices, skin colour, racial differences and social statuses. We are the offspring of the Almighty Creator of the macrocosms and microcosms we share. Our survival in our variety of physical environment follows the same laws. No man is an island. We need each other!
25. Rev. Prof. J. J. Kenez also contends that natural laws are sacrosanct for they were made by the Almighty Architect and Engineer who created every being on planet; EARTH. They are divine and eternal; because they are universal and are no respecters of places and times of birth, parentage, race, educational level or religion! There are so many self-evident examples; the movement of the sun and moon regulate the hours of day, night, weeks, months and years; so also do gravity, temperature, pressure, emotion, motivation, conception, pregnancy, labour and birth regulate family life. If anyone disagrees, let him provide evidence to the contrary.
26. The founders of HAPPY FAMILY NETWORK, INTEGRATIONAL SPIRITAN MOVEMENT AND FINALLY FAMILY LIFE COLLEGE, therefore, posit that human slavery, in whatever form it is used to deny any Homo sapiens and others their fundamental human rights, was/is and will forever remain illegal! Caste systems must be abrogated both in civil and religious circles all over the world to arrive at;
ONE ALMIGHTY CREATOR, ONE CREATED UNIVERSE, ONE HUMAN FAMILY, ONE GLOBAL FAITH and ONE MODE OF WORSHIP; which is our creed
SERVICE TO HUMANITY INTERNATIONALLY; is the lifestyle of all bona-fide members,
LOYALTY TO THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH; in every thought, word or deed is our international social ethics &
OBEDIENCE TO ALL THE NATURAL & ETERNAL LAWS OF THE CREATOR; is our gospel worldwide.
27. If you want to be a foundation member of the board of directors for this all-inclusive humanitarian
FAMILY LIFE COLLEGE send us a proposal of what you can contribute and attach a brief CV, your contact addresses and a current passport sized photo of yourself.
28. Once you can pool your resources and co-ordinate a hundred like-minds who are rational thinkers in your community either by Face book networking or any other ingenious methodology, contact us for inauguration. We do not care whether you ‘believe in God or gods’! The Creator has never had, has and will never have a name by any language or be labelled by his creatures! Those who use ‘God or god’ have never spelt it backwards to see its demonic origin! The only qualification you need is that you are a sane human being who is naturally objective, is ready to respect the opinions of others and is prepared to disabuse the mind of all previous indoctrinations that you had been forced to swallow hook, line and sinker since childhood.
29. If you care to join us in a sanitation exercise that will guarantee a better future for your children, then come, read, observe, witness and finally analyse the development of religion from time immemorial to evaluate its subjugation to man-made doctrines, dogmas and modes of worship that are irreligious! Thereafter, we can seek for solutions as proposed by the computer-age integrational fellowship; Integrational Spiritan Movement, abbreviated thus: I S M.
30. Nigeria-Beatification
March 22, 1998
From Emeka Ndika PANA Correspondent
OBA, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria's late priest and monk, the Rev. Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi, was beatified here Sunday at an epic mass celebrated by visiting Roman Catholic Supreme Pontiff, Pope John Paul II, as part of the process in the attainment of sainthood.
TansiHundreds of thousands of faithfuls, including local and visiting bishops, priests and the laity participated in the mass at the Oba airstrip in eastern Nigeria, Tani's hometown near the market city of Onitsha.
The large congregation, many of them spotting memorabilias including African print dresses, broaches, caps and vests with the pictures of Tansi and the Pope, emblasoned on them, participated in a vigil mass ahead of the beatification service, which started about 11.15 Gmt.
The Pope, who had arrived Oba to a tumultous welcome in an helicopter via Enugu, the nearest airport where he had landed from Abuja, the Nigerian capital, then proclailed Tansi blessed.
Acceding to the request of our brother Albert Obiefuna, Archibishop of Onitsha and President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, the many other brothers in the Espicopate, of many faithful, and of the Cistercian monastic family, and after consultation with the congregation for the causes of saints, by our apostolic authority, we declare that the venerable servant of God, Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi, shall hereafter be invoked as blessed, the Pontiff said.
By this rite, the Pope said Tansi's feast shall be celebrated every year on the 20th day of January, the date of his birth to eternal life in the places and according to the norms established by the church law.
Tansi's statue was later unveiled. Earlier, his biography was read, indicating that Tansi was born in Aguleri in 1903, ordained a priest in Nigeria in 1937 before he travelled to England where he took the monastic vows as a monk at Mount Saint Bernard in Leicester. Tansi died in 1964 and was buried in England, but his remains were exhumed and reburied in Onitsha in 1986.
Beatification is the first stage in the process of attainment of sainthood, according to the Catholic doctrine, which prescribes strict rites including incontrovertible miracles associated with a person being so proclaimed.
Catholic records have already ascribed one such miracle to Tansi, involving a Nigerian woman, Philomina Emeka, who was said to be suffering from terminal cancer but reportedly got healed after she touched Tansi's casket, when his remains were brought to Nigeria for reburial in 1964.
And only last Friday in Onitsha, seven passengers escaped death after the Peugeot car in which they were travelling sommersaulted several times and spinned into the bank of River Niger, near the site where Tansi's remains had been reburied.
Many Catholics attribute this feat to Tansi's holiness. The beatification mass was also a mixture of Nigerian culture and religion, with a liturgy that featured traditional dances and rites by Tansi's Aguleri Royal Fathers, some bearing elephant tusks.
Among dignitaries at the mass, were Nigeria's former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme and Emeka Ojukwu, who led eastern Nigeria in the failed Biafra rebellion during the 1967-70 civil war years.
The Pope returns to Abuja later Sunday for a meeting with Nigerian Muslim leaders as part of the agenda of his three-day Nigerian visit ending Monday.
It is his second pastoral visit to the country with the largest catholic population in Africa south of the Sahara, after his first tour in 1982.

Thousands attend Nigerian night vigil for Pope
04:07 p.m
Mar 21, 1998 Eastern
By Eniwoke Ibagere
OBA, Nigeria, March 21 (Reuters ) - Thousands of people streamed on Saturday to a night-time vigil in southeast Nigeria to prepare for the arrival of Pope John Paul.
Parents carrying children, chairs and bundles of food and drink on their heads, gathered at a stadium near the site of Sunday's planned mass at Oba, some 10 km (six miles) from the regional market centre of Onitsha.
The streaming lines recalled the only too common pictures of refugees to come out of Africa -- from a part of Nigeria which suffered its own civil war in the 1960s when hundreds of thousands died of starvation.
But these were happy trekkers.
``It's fun to be here and on the road to seeing the Pope,'' 12-year-old schoolboy Paulinus Nwadike told Reuters.
For Roman Catholics, Sunday's special mass will be the high point of the Pope's three-day visit to Nigeria, when the Pontiff beatifies ascetic monk Cyprian Michael Tansi before a crowd which church officials say could pass one million.
Beatification is the penultimate step before sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church.
``This night vigil mass is to pray for the safe arrival of the Pope and for peace and success during Sunday's beatification,'' Archbishop of Onitsha Albert Obiefuna told Reuters at the stadium.
The Pope is due to arrive by helicopter at 10.20 (0920 GMT) before starting the beatification ceremony at 11.a.m.
Tansi, who died in an English monastery 1964, did much to promote religious vocations and improve education, particularly for women, in the West African country where he was born into a pagan village family in 1903.
He proclaimed a message of reconciliation which the Pope echoed in his address in the Nigerian capital Abuja when he arrived on Saturday and made an appeal for respect for human rights in the politically-troubled country.
Tansi has developed a huge following among Nigeria's 12 million or so Roman Catholics and is credited with numerous interventions to help the sick.
The Vatican officially acknowledges one miracle in 1986, when a woman with apparently terminal cancer who touched his coffin completely recovered at a time she had been expected to die.
Tansi's remains were exhumed from Onitsha on Monday.
Dressed in a cassock and placed in a metal cask they are being kept there until just before the mass -- when the age-darkened bones will be blessed by the Pope at the height of the ceremony.

ARCHBISHOP ALBERT OBIEFUNA of Onitsha Archdiocese speaks...
interview by Giampaolo Mattei, translated from Italian language (cf. L'Osservatore Romano, Edizione speciale, 19 marzo 1998, p.8)
What does the beatification of Father Tansi by the Pope on Sunday 22 March at Onitsha mean for the Church in Nigeria?
The beatification of Father Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi is a milestone in the annals of the CatholicChurch in West Africa. The Church, particularly in Nigeria, is happy and grateful to God for this historic event. The faith which was brought into the country in 1860 is maturing and producing lasting fruits. Nigeria is a vast and pluralistic country from the religious point of view. Father Tansi was born in the eastern part that is strongly Christian. His beatification will be a clear recognition of the courage and the life of Christian witness by many Nigerian Catholics, men and women. It will also be a great encouragement and a model for young and old people, for priests, for religious and for the laity that continue to engage themselves in the work of evangelisation.
Of what relevance today is the witness of Father Tansi?
His witness is relevant in many ways. It is significant that he overcame all the obstacles and oppositions of his time and was able to lead a heroic life and to undertake a total commitment of faith and love. We are talking about the heritage which ought to inspire Christians of today, men and women, to face the challenges that they meet in the mission of witnessing Christ with courage in whichever condition of life they may find themselves.
How prepared is the Church in Nigeria to receive the Pope?
From the moment of the official announcement of the second pastoral visit of the Holy Father to this country was made, preparations at various levels were begun. All Nigerians consider the visit as an important national event. The Government is engaged seriously in the preparations, so also the Catholic Church and groups of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
The Episcopal Conference, in particular, has created different committees. The preparations are also accompanied by intense spiritual activities organised both at the national and diocesan levels. The bishops have exhorted all Catholics to pray for the success of the visit. During the last meeting which took place here in Onitsha from 3 to 6 March, the Bishops have asked all the faithful of this country to recite a novena of prayers. The response of the people was moving.
What is the situation of the Archdiocese of Onitsha?
The Archdiocese of Onitsha is the second most ancient Metropolitan Sees in Nigeria. The Church is full of life and dynamism. The Catholics are more than one million: they are about two-thirds of the total population of the Archdiocese. The people participate actively in the life of Church, through the Sacraments and the organisations of lay apostolate. The vocations to the priesthood and to the religious life are abundant. The biggest problem which the Archdiocese must resolve concerns the formation in faith and the mobilisation of a good majority of the Catholics in parishes.
Here are detailed statistics: the Archdiocese has 300 diocesan priests and 29 religious missionary priests. There are 407 religious, men and women, 350 major seminarians, 800 minor seminarians and thousands of lay people — they also are engaged in the evangelisation of the Archdiocese.
Many priests work as missionaries in various dioceses in Africa, in Europe and in America. There are two monasteries (one for men and another for women), two minor seminaries which have potentials for the foundation of a major diocesan seminary, and different Houses of formation for religious life.

Papal Nigeria trip
04:20 a.m. Mar 19, 1998 Eastern
By Steve Pagani
VATICAN CITY, March 19 (Reuters) - The Pope's three-day visit, his 82nd trip outside Italy, comes at a critical time for Abacha as he approaches August elections to choose a civilian president. He is widely expected to stand and is seeking respect both at home and abroad.
It is the Pope's first trip to black Africa during his 20 year papacy which has been confined to one country. Vatican officials want to avoid overtiring the frail Pontiff, who turns 78 in May, particularly in temperatures that can reach more than 40 degrees Centigrade.
After arriving in the capital Abuja on Saturday, the Pope meets Abacha for a courtesy visit at State House.
On Sunday, he flies to Onitsha for what the Vatican considers the main event of the visit -- the beatification of ascetic monk Cyprian Michael Tansi, who died in 1964.
More than a million people are expected to attend the ceremony at Oba airstrip near the town.
In the Roman Catholic Church, beatification is the penultimate step before sainthood.
Tansi is regarded as having done much to promote religious vocations in Nigeria, improve education, particularly for women, and tried to bring together the country's diverse religious and ethnic groups.
Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria, the president of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue, said Tansi left a message to Nigerians to love one another and to create a united nation.
``To the citizens of Nigeria and Africa, he said: 'Create a society without ethnic frontiers or language barriers','' Arinze, who will accompany the Pope on his trip, told Vatican Radio in an interview.
About half the Nigerian population is Moslem, 11 percent Roman Catholic, 26 percent other Christian denominations and the rest animist. More than 200 ethnic groups constitute a greater force for division in Nigerian society than religion.
Tansi's appeal for the breaking down of barriers, especially religious ones, has been one of the Pope's main quests during his papacy.
He meets Moslem leaders after returning to Abuja from Onitsha on Sunday in what is bound to be a sensitive encounter. A similar meeting scheduled during the Pope's last visit to Nigeria in 1982 fell through at the last minute.
Huge crowds are also expected in Abuja on Monday when the Pope celebrates mass in the capital. He returns to Rome later that day after meeting members of the Nigerian bishops' conference.

FEATURE - Nigerian's road to sainthood led far from home
09:10 p.m Mar 14, 1998 Eastern
By Matthew Tostevin
IGBOEZUNU, Nigeria, March 15 (Reuters ) - Godwin Nneke's brother is not much more than a step away from becoming Nigeria's first saint.
Nneke hopes he will be there on Sunday (March 22) when Pope John Paul beatifies Father Michael Cyprian Iwene Tansi, and places the former monk on the last stage before sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church.
After the special mass near Onitsha, which will bless Tansi's exhumed remains before an expected crowd of up to two million, Nneke will return the 25 miles (40 km) to Igboezunu where he has lived for the 89 years he guesses his life has spanned.
``He's an ordinary farmer,'' said Father Jeremiah Nwosu, interpreting for Nneke, who never went to school and speaks only Ibo and not a word of English, Nigeria's official language.
``He's very happy that his brother is on the way to becoming a saint,'' added Nwosu on behalf of Nneke whose muscles shake with years of toil at this hamlet far from the madding crowd.
In a tale familiar across Africa, only one child in the poor family was to get a formal education.
Tansi, born in 1903, went to school. The other children hoed and planted to support the household.
The missionary education at nearby Aguleri was the first stage of Tansi's journey far from the lush tropics to his death as a monk during the British winter of 1964.
A MIRACLE
From the grave, Tansi has won a large and growing following of people sure he has answered their prayers. He has at least one miracle to his name, confirmed by the Vatican and a necessary qualification for becoming a saint.
``I couldn't get up. I couldn't eat or drink,'' said 29-year-old Philomena Nnana, who was suffering from seemingly terminal cancer at the Holy Rosary specialist hospital in Onitsha when Tansi's remains were brought back from Britain in 1986.
``I asked to touch the coffin and it was like a bag of cement on my stomach melted. Everything disappeared and I felt well again,'' she told Reuters in Onitsha.
But for the miracle, and a trip to the Vatican to give evidence on Tansi's behalf, Nnana's life has been typical of the Nigerian market city. She makes a little money as a petty trader and is married to a dealer in prescription drugs. She has given birth to three children and two are still alive and healthy.
``I have a lot to be thankful for. I always say a special prayer for Father Tansi and bring flowers to his tomb on the anniversary of his death,'' she said. ``Some people like to touch me because of the miracle. They like to be blessed.''
TANSI DEFIED TRADITION
These days the people of Igboezunu are proud of Tansi, but in the 1920s they could not understand how he could desert tradition and family duty by joining the priesthood to become a 'slave' to God.
Deities worshipped before the arrival of European missionaries still play a part in the lives of many in the heartland of the overwhelmingly Christian Ibo people, who make up at least 15 million of Nigeria's more than 104 million population.
In the 1920s the traditions held even more power.
Tansi's mother was accused of being a witch and forced to drink poison in a trial by ordeal which killed her.
Tansi, by that time a teacher, entered a seminary on the banks of the nearby River Niger in 1925 and was ordained in 1937.
Surviving parishioners say he walked tirelessly around the villages he served; hearing confessions, baptising the new-born and burying the dead. But at the back of his mind was a calling to become a monk and lead a life of prayer, contemplation and poverty.
In 1950 his wish was granted to join the Abbey of the Cistercians of the Strict Observance at Mount Saint Bernard in Leicestershire, England, where he stayed until his death from thrombosis in January 1964 without returning to Africa.
``He lived a very ascetic life. He insisted on chastity. He kept on hammering that. Mortifying the flesh and so forth,'' said Father Hillary Anisiobi, the current parish priest at Aguleri who was baptised by Tansi in 1940 and now sleeps in his old room.
``He never looked behind him, never. He always walked straight ahead, just like that.''

Bishops call for national reconciliation ahead of pope's visit
13 March 1998
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) Nigeria's Roman Catholic bishops said Friday they hoped an upcoming visit by Pope John Paul II would encourage reconciliation between the country's opposing groups.
"The visit should elicit from all of us, Christians and non-Christians alike, a commitment to the values and principles that the pope champions around the world," the bishops said in an open letter to Catholics.
During his March 21-23 visit, the pope will visit Abuja, the capital, and the eastern city of Enugu before stopping in Onitsha to beatify a priest who died about 10 years ago, the Rev. Michael Iwene Tansi....
The pope last visited Nigeria in 1982, when he ordained 100 priests from around the country. Ten percent of the country's 90 million people are Catholic. About half are Muslim.

Nigerian Catholics ready for Pope's visit in March
07:55 a.m. Mar 07, 1998 Eastern

By Eniwoke Ibagere
ONITSHA, Nigeria, Mar 7 (Reuters) - Nigeria's Catholic community is ready to receive Pope John Paul when he visits later this month to beatify a local priest, a spokesman said.
``I can say categorically that we are ready to host the Pope as all things needed are in place. The Catholic community is longing to see the Pope during his visit,'' Archbishop Albert Obiefuna, host of the Nigerian Catholic Bishops conference in eastern Onitsha town, told Reuters on Friday.
The Catholic bishops held a conference from March 3 to 6 in Onitsha to discuss the Pope's visit.
The Pope would visit Nigeria from March 21 to 23, his second to the African country, and would beatify late Father Cyprien Iwene Tansi, a monk who died in 1964.
Tansi is the first Nigerian to be beatified, the last stage before sainthood. March 22 is the date for the beatification ceremony which would take place at Oba airstrip near Onitsha.
Obiefuna said T-shirts, brooches, caps, banners and posters to welcome the Pontiff had been designed and printed. ``The facilities for the beatification are near ready,'' he said.
``We have constructed facilities such as a vestry, a small chapel and podium necessary for the Pope's use. We're now in the painting and decoration stage.''
He said terraces were being constructed on either side of the podium for the more than two million people expected to attend the Papal Mass after Tansi's beatification.
More than 3,000 Catholic priests and 1,000 seminarians would assist the Pope in administering holy communion at the Mass celebration, he said.
According to the Vatican, the Pontiff's would also hold a Mass in the capital Abuja on March 23 and meet members of Nigeria's Episcopal Conference before departing for Rome in the evening.
``Everything for the Abuja Mass is also as good as ready,'' Obiefuna said.
The Pope last visited Nigeria in 1982, when millions of people turned out to hear him.
Nigeria is Africa's most populous nation with 104 million people. About half the population is Moslem and Catholics form less than half the Christian population of more than 25 million.

SPIRITUAL SONS OF SAINT MICHAEL IWENE TABANSI
( sssmit )
ARE LAY PROFESSIONALS THAT HAVE DEDICATED THEIR SKILLS TO CARRYING ON THE LEGACIES OF OUR ROLE MODEL BY ASSISTING THE POOR MASSES
SAINT MICHAEL IWENE TABANSI, PRAY FOR US, AMEN

Why has our own BLESSED not been canonised whereas the Pope who declared him ‘blessed’ has been elevated to sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church. Did he not attain the rank before both Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II? We may be ignorant of the little technicalities delaying the Holy See but we are not ignorant of the saintly miracles our dear son has performed for decades now. Why is Vatican dragging its feet?
We are no longer waiting for anyone to boss us over the authenticity of what we can clearly see in our palms or the veracity of visible evidences of divine favours that our kith and kin have gained through BLESSED IWENE TANSI. Did we campaign for a Pope to come down here and announce it to us? - - NO IS THE RIGHT ANSWER. We did not lobby anyone to elevate him. The Holy Spirit and his brother monks did. So, who are we waiting for?
We are the ones restricting ourselves. He was declared a SAINT that same day he was pronounced ‘Blessed’. Rearrange the letters in “TANSI” and you will realise for the first time that Vatican inadvertently already named him a SAINT. This latest association of laymen professionals are his spiritual sons. He is our SAINT, and we will prove it so by our LABOURS OF LOVE FOR HIM. Join us today.

PROCEDAMUS VIA IWENE TANSI is based on 1st John, Chapter 3

1 ¶ Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. (KJV)
1 ¶ See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (RSV)
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (KJV)
2 Beloved, we are God's children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (RSV)
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (KJV)
3 And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. (RSV)
4 ¶ Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (KJV)
4 ¶ Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. (RSV)
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. (KJV)
5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. (RSV)
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. (KJV)
6 No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. (RSV)
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (KJV)
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous. (RSV)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (KJV)
8 He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. (RSV)
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. {is born: or, has been born} (KJV)
9 No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. (RSV)
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (KJV)
10 By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother. (RSV)
11 ¶ For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. {message: or, commandment} (KJV)
11 ¶ For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, (RSV)
12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. (KJV)
12 and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous. (RSV)
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. (KJV)
13 Do not wonder, brethren, that the world hates you. (RSV)
14 ¶ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (KJV)
14 ¶ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. (RSV)
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (KJV)
15 Any one who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (RSV)
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (KJV)
16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (RSV)
17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? (KJV)
17 But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? (RSV)
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. (KJV)
18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth. (RSV)
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. {assure: Gr. persuade} (KJV)
19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth, and reassure our hearts before him (RSV)
20 ¶ For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. (KJV)
20 ¶ whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. (RSV)
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. (KJV)
21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God; (RSV)
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (KJV)
22 and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. (RSV)
23 ¶ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (KJV)
23 ¶ And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. (RSV)
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (KJV)
24 All who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us. (RSV)

Iwene tansi did not wait for irish missionaries to teach him to BECOME SAINTLY, HE RELIED ON HIS NATIVE INTELLIGENCE AND TODAY HE IS BLESSED IWENE TANSI. MANY OF US CAN BECOME LIKE HIM IF ONLY WE STOPPED BEING PRIESTS IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK THAT APPEARED AND DISAPPEARED AFTER COLLECTING TITHES. WE MUST EMULATE OUR SAINTLY BROTHER AND STOP BEING PARASITES ON OUR CONGREGATIONS. …….    Ite Missa Est.

Dr Jideofo Kenechukwu Danmbaezue is a respected ex-seminarian of both All Hallow's Seminary Onitsha 1962-1967, the BIGARD IN EXILE during the civil war at Afana-Obong, Amaimo and Amakaohia before resumption at Enugu in 1970. Pulled out of Theology because of fragrant abuses he saw clerics indulge in that was the remote genesis of his vibrant posts to both;
1. Pope John Paul II entitled "GRADUATES OF SATAN'S UNIVERSITY
2. Pope Benedict XVI entitled " BREAD AND BUTTER CLERICS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES"

THIS TIME VATICAN CITY MUST LISTEN TO THE CRIES OF RELATIVES OF BLESSED MICHAEL IWENE TANSI WHO HAS NOT BEEN ELEVATED TO SAINTHOOD OR DARE A BIFURCATION OF RCM.

  1. MOST REV DR MICHAEL UGWUJA ENEJA MY FIRST RECTOR AT ONITSHA

HERE IS ANOTHER IGBO SAINT that lived among us who had SAINT IWENE TANSI as his Mentor & Role Model. He was known as REV. FR. MICHAEL UGWUJA ENEJA, a native of NSUKKA, who reached the Episcopal Rank of A Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese and only recently SLEPT IN THE LORD in 2008!

ARE WE GOING THROUGH THE SAME RACIST PROCESS AGAIN? This one went to the same seminaries Cyprain Michael Iwene Tabansi of Aguleri attended. Did you notice both had same Patron Saint at baptism? Their parents lived miles apart at different epochs of missionary evangelisation, can’t you the hand of God in this coincidence?

This other saint was my own Rector @ ALL HALLOWS SEMINARY, ONITSHA, from 1962 - 1964. At the end of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war in which he served as an adorable Chaplain to Soldiers on both sides of the senseless fratricide that lasted 3 years, he was later incardinated in his home Catholic Diocese of Enugu and became a Senior Ethics Lecturer in BIGARD MEMORIAL MAJOR SEMINARY, ENUGU.

He was our most exemplary Spiritual Daddy; literally a Living Saint as he was even officially appointed and revered as the 'primus inter pares' among other younger Spiritual Formators we emulated at the time. I was there live. It was not narrated to me. I came! I saw!! I tasted and tested his evident virtues!!! I was and am still convinced to date that here was a Living Saint.

Witness this peculiar feature; Where others knelt down and dust soiled their white soutanes, his was never dirtied nor soiled! Little urchins though we were, this peculiar sign we clearly observed for several years proved to us right from Onitsha till Enugu that unseen angels were guarding him.

Again, he always came out completely UNHURT in all the vehicle accidents his reckless drivers got him involved in throughout his earthly life! What other miracles did we innocent teenagers need as proofs? Whether Rome or Vatican likes it or not, “me i no need nor want dem approval lie lie!”

FOR ME; HE IS SAINT MICHAEL ENEJA, COME RAIN, COME SUNSHINE. I DO WRITE HIS NAME IN ALL MY DIARIES AND BOOKS & EVEN ON MY CELL PHONE SCREEN SAVERS IN BOLD CAPITALS thus; SAINT MICHAEL UGWUJA ENEJA, PRAY FOR ME!

DEFINITELY THIS IS ANOTHER SAINT IN THE WAITING LIST..

  4. Happy Valentine, for all Tansians. did you read my letters to the Papal Nuncio and some of our Archbishops? It is having ripple effects all the way to Africans in the Diaspora writing me from Japan and China who are equally appalled that only Italians overpopulate the RCM heaven and purgatory while leaving us to hell.

As far as I can surmise, it seems the only Cardinal we have and his Dunukofia Mafia clique want the first saint in Igboland to hail from their kindred or else tell me what he is waiting fro. All the bishops he hoisted seem to share his ethnocentric pathology. that is why he wants to live and die in Rome.

LET HIM COME HOME AND FACE THE RESULTS OF HIS MYOPIC PREJUDICES. IS IT AN OFFENCE THAT THE FOUNDATION PARISH PRIEST OF DUNUKOFIA THAT NOW HAS 16 CHILDREN IS NOT AN INDIGENE? IS THAT WHY OUR FIRST SAINT CANNOT COME FROM AGULERI? MUST WE WAIT TILL A DUNUKOFIAN IS A SAINT ???
